dGEMRIC (delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage) dGEMRIC, or delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage is a technique that can be used quantitatively to assess glycosaminoglycan content of cartilage or qualitatively to asses the overall structures of cartilage. When the technique is adapted and applied to menisci it is called dGEMRIM. Knee joint distraction (KJD) is a less known joint preserving treatment and indicated for both unilateral and generalized knee OA. KJD is performed by placing an external fixation device for 6 weeks, allowing for a renewal of the joint homeostasis, where anabolic activity takes over catabolic activity, providing a more healthy Delayed contrast-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) is a noninvasive technique to study cartilage glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content in vivo. This study evaluates dGEMRIC in patients with preradiographic degenerative cartilage changes. 2014-01-01 · MRI. Subjects were investigated with dGEMRIC 20.6 years (mean; range 18–23) after the injury, using a standard 1.5 T MRI system with a dedicated knee coil (Magnetom Vision; Siemens Medical Solutions, Erlangen, Germany).

Method: We examined 32 knees using delayed gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of cartilage (dGEMRIC), 20 years after a complete ACL tear. The day-to-day reproducibility measurements of the knee cartilage were performed three times by four technicians within an average 5.3 (SD 3.0) days between imaging sessions. In the first imaging session, the MRI scans included both standard MRI series and dGEMRIC mapping. The second and third session only consisted of the dGEMRIC experiment. Tissue engineered medical products — MRI evaluation of cartilage — Part 1: Clinical evaluation of regenerative knee articular cartilage using delayed gadolimium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) and T2 mapping Although MRI is not recommended for now to diagnose early knee OA in daily clinical practice, because of lack of validated consensus criteria and the frequent prevalence of structural knee joint changes with MRI, the literature suggests that such MRI-detected lesions may represent early knee OA, and add support for the investigation of intervention effectiveness at the early stage of OA. DELAYED GADOLINIUM-ENHANCED MRI OF - Dissertations.se

2014-5-1 The “delay” refers to the time that is required for the contrast agent to diffuse into the cartilage after an intravenous (IV) injection. In femoral knee cartilage, T1 Gd was found to be relatively stable at 90–120 min postinjection, which has been the recommended window for dGEMRIC imaging of the knee [8, 11].In the hip joint, early data indicated no difference in signal intensity in T1 Methods: Between August 2008 and April 2012, sixty-five patients (seventy-four hips) underwent primary hip arthroscopy with preoperative dGEMRIC and a minimum of two years of follow-up. Exclusion criteria were previous hip surgery, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, inflammatory arthropathy, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, and arthritis of >1 MRI with dGEMRIC provides quantitative information on cartilage quality, and lower dGEMRIC values were found for clock positions with impingement detected on 3D-CT.
